What a fantastic experience. The new louvre awning has made such a difference to our outdoor space and has honestly exceeded our expectations. The attention to detail during the installation was excellent, and the whole team was friendly, respectful, and easy to deal with. It looks like it was always meant to be part of the house. Thank you for a job well done!

Fixed Awnings
One profile. Every season. No moving parts.
A fixed aluminium awning is a permanent, fully watertight roof over a patio, carport or entrance, built from powder-coated aluminium with baked-enamel IBR roofing sheets and a concealed box gutter. No timber to rot, no steel to rust, no moving parts to service.
Every awning is custom-fabricated for your site and installed at the correct pitch, fully sealed and drained. It performs from day one and keeps performing through salt air, Cape Doctor wind, hard UV and heavy winter rain, with nothing more than the occasional rinse.

IBR (Inverted Box Rib) aluminium roofing spans longer distances without sagging and shrugs off heavy wind loads. The result is a bold, contemporary overhead profile that suits modern homes, garages and large entertainment areas. Where possible we span from the house to just two front posts, keeping the space below open.

Carport FAQs
Good to know
How much does an aluminium carport cost in Cape Town?
Every carport is custom-built, so the price depends on the roofing style you choose (louvre, aluminium ceiling or fixed IBR), the span, the number of bays and any add-ons. We send a fixed, fully itemised written quote within 48 hours of your free site visit, with supply and installation included.
Is aluminium better than steel for a carport?
Yes. Aluminium does not rust, which makes it far better suited to Cape Town’s coastal conditions than steel. Aluminium carports need no painting, rust treatment or sanding, and the powder-coat finish holds its colour for decades. Steel carports near the coast can begin rusting within a few years and need ongoing maintenance.
Can a carport be freestanding or attached to the house?
Both options are available. A wall-attached carport connects to your house and needs fewer posts, which suits single or double bays next to the building. A freestanding carport stands on its own posts and suits open driveways, detached garages or parking away from the house. We recommend the best configuration on the free site visit.
How long does it take to install an aluminium carport?
Most carport installations are completed in one to two days. From accepted quote to completed install, the typical lead time is 4–5 weeks, and we schedule the installation day to suit you.
Can you build a carport over an existing driveway or paving?
Yes. We build over existing paving, concrete or soil. Where posts fall on paving or concrete we core-drill and set them in concrete footings; where they fall on soil or lawn we cast footings directly. The driveway surface itself is not affected. We discuss post placement on the site visit to minimise disruption.
Do aluminium carports come with a guarantee?
Yes. Every carport carries our lifetime corrosion guarantee, a 10-year structural guarantee and a 2-year workmanship guarantee, all provided in writing with the installation.
Can I add lighting or side screens to my carport?
Yes. LED downlights and security lighting integrate into the aluminium frame during fabrication. Wiring routes invisibly through the posts and beams with no exposed conduit. Side screens in aluminium, polycarbonate or lattice can be added for wind, rain or privacy. All add-ons are specified at quoting stage so the carport arrives complete.
What roofing options are available?
Three styles: fixed IBR profile (baked-enamel sheets, the most popular and best value), aluminium ceiling carport (flat panel for a finished look), and louvre awning carport (motorised or manual adjustable blades). Polycarbonate skylight inserts can be added to IBR and ceiling carports for natural daylight.

Fixed awning FAQs
Good to know
What is a fixed aluminium awning?
A permanent, non-adjustable aluminium roof, usually an IBR profile, over a patio, carport or entrance. The frame, beams and posts are powder-coated aluminium and the roofing is baked-enamel aluminium sheet, so it is fully watertight with zero moving parts and low maintenance.
Should I choose IBR profile or polycarbonate skylights?
Solid IBR roofing gives complete shade and 100% weather cover with real structural rigidity. Adding architectural multiwall polycarbonate skylight inserts lets filtered natural daylight through underneath while staying fully watertight and UV-protected. Choose based on how much light you want beneath the awning.
Is a fixed awning completely watertight?
Yes. Every awning is installed at the correct pitch with sealed joints and an integrated, concealed baked-enamel box gutter and downpipe, so rainwater drains away cleanly with no drips, leaks or exposed fixings. Each one is tested against Cape Town’s heaviest winter rain before handover.
Can it be wall-attached or freestanding?
Both. A wall-attached awning spans from the house to a couple of front posts, keeping the area open; a freestanding awning stands on its own posts for driveways or detached areas. We recommend the best configuration on the free site visit.

We were looking for a modern, low-maintenance patio cover that suited our home in Stellenbosch, and this was exactly what we wanted. The finish is beautiful, the installation was neat, and communication throughout the project was excellent. It’s given us a space we can enjoy all year round. We would definitely use Aluminium Awnings again.
Aluminium Awnings Cape Town enclosed our Constantia patio with a manual louvre roof, full white, with aluminium doors and windows all round, and it's honestly become our favourite part of the house. We use it right through winter now. The rain and the wind don't get in, and it's so easy to wind the louvres open when the sun comes out. Neat, tidy install with a friendly team, and the white finish looks really clean against the house. Couldn't be happier, highly recommend.
Ryan and his team were awesome and really went the extra mile to make our awning perfect! Can definitely recommend them!
Very happy with the replacement of our awning after it got damaged in the May storm. More sturdy and stronger
We recently had a louvre awning installed by Aluminium Awnings at our home in Durbanville, and we’re so pleased with the result. The quality of the workmanship is excellent, and the finished product has completely transformed our outdoor space. The team was professional, arrived on time, and kept us informed throughout the installation. We looked at a few different companies before deciding, and we’re really glad we chose Aluminium Awnings. If you’re considering louvre awnings in Cape Town, we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.

Absolutely thrilled with our new louvre awning from Aluminium Awnings. From start to finish, the service was professional, the installation was neat, and the finished product looks incredible. We’re based in Blouberg, so we wanted something that would work well with the coastal conditions and strong winds, while still giving us control over the sunlight and shade. The louvre awning has completely transformed the outside area and the quality of the aluminium structure and finish is excellent. Would definitely recommend Aluminium Awnings to anyone in Blouberg or Cape Town looking for a quality louvre awning. Very happy with the end result!
