Enclosed aluminium panels span the full underside of the structure, creating a clean, flat ceiling you look up at from below. 200mm aluminium panels span the underside to form a smooth, flat ceiling with no exposed beams, no visible fixings and no industrial look. It reads as a finished room extension, not an add-on.

An integrated box gutter and concealed downpipes are built into the structure, channelling every drop of rainwater away. That's what makes the ceiling fully weatherproof, with no blades to close and no adjustments.

Concealed services
Because the ceiling cavity is enclosed, conduit channels are built in during fabrication. Downlights sit flush with the panels, and fan or speaker wiring runs completely out of sight, with no visible cabling from below.

What is an aluminium patio ceiling and how is it different to a normal awning?
A standard awning is a fabric or sheet cover mounted to a wall. An aluminium patio ceiling is a permanent engineered structure: powder-coated beams and poles, an enclosed aluminium panel ceiling on the underside, and an integrated box gutter and downpipes above. It looks and performs like a room extension, not an accessory. Once it's up, it's part of your home.
Should I choose a standard or corrugated-roof ceiling?
If your patio is sheltered and single-span, the standard ceiling is the right call. It is clean, cost-effective and fully weatherproof. If your patio is larger or more exposed, the corrugated-roof build adds an aluminium roof sheet on top of the ceiling panels, giving a double-skin construction with extra protection above. We'll recommend the right build during your free site visit.
Is it fully waterproof, 100%?
Yes. 100%. There are no blades to close, no panels to adjust and no gaps. The enclosed ceiling is fully sealed, and an integrated box gutter and downpipes channel every drop of water away before it reaches your space. It performs the same in a light drizzle or a Cape Town winter downpour.
How much does an aluminium patio ceiling cost?
Standard aluminium patio ceilings start from around R2 800/m² and corrugated-roof ceilings from around R3 800/m², supplied and installed. The main factors are the size of your patio, the number of poles required, your colour choice and any site-specific considerations. We give you a fixed, itemised written quote after a free site visit, so there are no surprises on the day.
Can I install downlights or fans inside the ceiling?
Yes. It looks excellent, too. Because the ceiling is fully enclosed, conduit channels are built directly into the cavity during fabrication. Downlights sit flush with the panel surface, fan wiring and speaker cabling run invisibly inside the structure, and there's no visible wiring from below. Tell us during quoting and we'll design it in from the start.
Will it hold up to Cape Town's wind, salt air and UV?
Yes. It's exactly what the product is designed for. The powder-coated aluminium beams and poles are engineered for coastal salt air, Cape Doctor wind loads and high UV exposure, from the Atlantic Seaboard to Stellenbosch and Somerset West. Every installation is backed by a lifetime corrosion guarantee.
How long does installation take?
Most single-span patio ceilings are installed in one to two days; larger or more complex structures take two to three days. Because all components are fabricated in-house and arrive ready to assemble, installation is clean and efficient. Total lead time from accepted quote to sign-off is 4–5 weeks.
What colours can I choose and can I match my home?
The powder-coated beams and poles are available across a full colour range (white, charcoal, anthracite, black and everything in between) and we can custom-match to a RAL specification. Ceiling panels are standard white, which suits most homes, but custom colours are available. We bring colour samples to your site visit so you can see them in context before deciding.

Aluminium Awnings Cape Town enclosed our Constantia patio with a manual louvre roof, full white, with aluminium doors and windows all round, and it's honestly become our favourite part of the house. We use it right through winter now. The rain and the wind don't get in, and it's so easy to wind the louvres open when the sun comes out. Neat, tidy install with a friendly team, and the white finish looks really clean against the house. Couldn't be happier, highly recommend.
