This notice explains what personal information Aluminium Awnings collects through this website, WhatsApp and our enquiry form, why we collect it, who receives it and what your rights are under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
1. Who we are

Email hello@aawn.co.za. This notice covers our website, aluminiumawnings.co.za, and what you share with us when you ask for a quote, book a site visit or contact us.

2. What we collect and where from
- What you type in the enquiry form: your name, cellphone number, email address, suburb, street name, the size of the area, your timing, the best times for a site visit, how you heard about us and your message.
- What you send us on WhatsApp: your messages and photos.
- How you reached the site: the advert or website you came from, and the page you landed on.
- Statistics and advertising: the Google Analytics id of your browser (unless you switch statistics off), and an advert click id, which we receive with your enquiry only if you allowed advertising. We keep these with your enquiry.
- Cookies, as you choose them (section 10).
3. Why, and on what basis
- To reply, quote and arrange the visit you asked for: these are steps you asked for before a contract (POPIA section 11(1)(b)).
- Statistics (Google Analytics): we use them to see how people use this site and to improve it. This is our legitimate interest (section 11(1)(f)). Statistics are on unless you switch them off: choose “Only essential” in the cookie banner or under Cookie settings, and they stop. You may object at any time.
- Advertising (Meta) and advert click ids: only with your consent (section 11(1)(a)). An advert click id waits on your device until you answer the advertising question, and is deleted if you say no. If you allow advertising, we may later tell Meta whether your enquiry became a visit or a sale, using a scrambled (hashed) copy of your cellphone number and email.
- Our own note of how you reached the site: our legitimate interest (section 11(1)(f)), so we know which adverts and websites bring enquiries. You may object.
- Marketing messages: only to people who have agreed to receive them (section 69). The enquiry form does not sign you up for any.
4. What you must give
Your name, and a cellphone number or an email address, so we can reply. On our enquiry form we also ask for your street name, so we can plan the site visit (no house number: we ask for that when we book the visit). Everything else is optional; without it we may ask you on WhatsApp.
5. Who receives it
- Our team.
- Cloudflare (this website and the form).
- Supabase (our database, hosted in Frankfurt, Germany).
- Meta: your enquiry is passed to our team over WhatsApp, even if you never use WhatsApp yourself. Facebook and Instagram advertising only if you allowed it, and, only if you allowed advertising, a scrambled (hashed) copy of your cellphone number and email, to tell Meta whether your enquiry became a visit or a sale.
- Google: Google Analytics, unless you switch statistics off; and the map on our contact page, which loads from Google Maps. Should we ever advertise on Google, a scrambled copy of your cellphone number and email would go to Google only under a new version of this notice that names Google in the advertising choice, and only if you allow it.
We do not sell your personal information. We also share it where the law requires us to.
6. Outside South Africa
Some of these providers keep information outside South Africa: in Germany and the rest of the European Union, and in the United States of America. Each one is bound by its data-processing terms to protect it (POPIA section 72).
7. How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not go ahead: 12 months from our last contact with you, then we delete them.
- Customers: as long as we need to honour your guarantees and to meet our legal, tax and accounting duties.
- In your browser: unsent form answers until you close the tab; an enquiry that could not be sent yet until it is sent (if it still has not gone after 72 hours, it is deleted the next time you open our site); our note of how you reached the site for 90 days (section 10).
The website itself keeps no copy of your enquiry. It goes straight to our system.
8. Security
Access to your information is limited to our team and the providers above, and the connection between your browser and us is encrypted.
9. Your rights
- Ask what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it.
- Object to us using it, including for direct marketing, at any time.
- Withdraw a consent you gave, for example under Cookie settings.
- Complain to the Information Regulator: inforegulator.org.za.

We were looking for a modern, low-maintenance patio cover that suited our home in Stellenbosch, and this was exactly what we wanted. The finish is beautiful, the installation was neat, and communication throughout the project was excellent. It’s given us a space we can enjoy all year round. Aluminium Awnings Cape Town enclosed our Constantia patio with a manual louvre roof, full white, with aluminium doors and windows all round, and it's honestly become our favourite part of the house. We use it right through winter now. The rain and the wind don't get in, and it's so easy to wind the louvres open when the sun comes out. Neat, tidy install with a friendly team, and the white finish looks really clean against the house. Couldn't be happier, highly recommend.

Built to last, backed in writing
- All quotations, product information, images, specifications and estimated lead times on this website are provided for general information purposes only and may be subject to change without notice. Final pricing, finishes, measurements, fixing methods, drainage details and structural requirements are confirmed only once an official quotation has been accepted in writing and the required deposit has been paid.
- Lifetime Aluminium Corrosion Guarantee. Effective for installations completed on or after 1 June 2026; installations completed before 1 June 2026 carry the previous 15-year aluminium corrosion guarantee. Applies to qualifying marine-grade aluminium components supplied and installed by Aluminium Awnings and covers corrosion failure under normal residential use, provided the product is cleaned and maintained correctly. It does not cover powder-coating fade, surface staining, scratches, coastal salt build-up, chemical damage, neglected maintenance, steel contamination, impact, storm damage, misuse, alterations, or corrosion caused by third-party materials, fixings or contractors.
- Composite Guarantee. Composite pergola beams carry a product guarantee of 10 to 25 years depending on the profile (solid composite beams 15–25 years, aluminium-core beams with a composite finish 10 years), provided they are installed to specification and maintained as set out in our care guide. It covers manufacturing defects in the composite; it excludes the natural colour variation and gentle mellowing of a timber-look product, misuse, alteration, impact, and damage from failure to clean and maintain.
- 10-Year Structural Guarantee. Effective for installations completed on or after 1 June 2026; installations completed before 1 June 2026 have no structural guarantee. Covers the structural integrity of qualifying louvre roofs, extruded and composite pergolas (aluminium frame), patio ceilings, carports, fixed IBR awnings and patio covers (frame, fitted at the sheeting maker’s slope), polycarbonate awnings (frame only) and patio enclosures (aluminium frame only) installed by Aluminium Awnings, provided the structure has not been altered, overloaded, damaged, neglected, incorrectly maintained, or affected by movement in the existing building, walls, foundations or waterproofing. It excludes extreme weather events, abnormal wind loads, flooding, falling objects, accidental damage, unauthorised modifications, or failure of existing structures to which the product is fixed. Retractable awnings carry no guarantee from us, only their makers’ warranties, and drop awnings and outdoor blinds carry no structural guarantee. Your rights under the Consumer Protection Act are not affected.
- 2-Year Workmanship Guarantee. Effective for installations completed on or after 1 June 2026; installations completed before 1 June 2026 carry the previous 1-year workmanship guarantee. Covers installation-related defects caused by Aluminium Awnings workmanship. It does not include normal wear and tear, blocked gutters, lack of cleaning, sealant deterioration from poor maintenance, damage caused by other contractors, electrical faults, motor failures, misuse, storm damage, or issues caused by the client's existing structure, waterproofing, paving, plaster, paintwork, tiles, plumbing or electrical services.
- Basic maintenance is required to keep all guarantees valid. Aluminium surfaces, gutters, drainage points and louvre channels should be cleaned regularly with clean water, a soft cloth or sponge and a mild non-abrasive soap. Coastal, high-wind, dusty and tree-lined properties may require more frequent cleaning. Do not use harsh chemicals, abrasive pads, acidic cleaners, or high-pressure washing directly on seals or motors. Gutters, outlets and drainage points must be kept clear.
- Motorised louvre systems, lighting, automation and electrical components must be used correctly and maintained according to supplier guidelines. Electrical connections must be completed by a qualified electrician where required. Supplier warranties on motors, remotes, electronics, lighting, powder coating, sheeting or third-party components remain subject to the relevant manufacturer's warranty terms.
- Lead times are estimates only and may be affected by supplier stock, powder coating, weather, access, engineering, client approvals, third-party contractors or delays outside our control. Total lead time from accepted quotation to project sign-off is typically 4–5 weeks. Deposits may be non-refundable once materials have been ordered, manufactured, cut, powder coated or allocated to a project.
- By accepting a quotation, paying a deposit or allowing work to commence, the client accepts the quotation, scope of work, payment terms, guarantee conditions and these general terms. All website content, images, product descriptions and brand material remain the property of Aluminium Awnings and may not be copied or used without written permission.
